Before you get started you should be a resident of Ontario and know we require two pieces of identification to open a membership account. There are different combinations of ID you can use.
Choice 1—Show two pieces of ID from List A:
- Ontario driver’s license
- Current Canadian passport
- Ontario Photo Card
- Canadian Certificate of Indian Status
- Canadian Citizenship Card (issued prior to 2012)
- Permanent Canadian Resident Card
If you don’t have two pieces of ID from List A above, you can:
Choice 2—Show one piece of ID from List A and one piece of ID from List B, below:
- Employee ID card that includes a photo of the member and issued by a well known employer in the community
- Old Age Security Card with Social Insurance Number (SIN) on card
- Canadian debit card or bank card that includes name and signature
- Canadian credit card that includes name and signature
- Canadian National Institute for the Blind Client card that includes photo and signature
- Current foreign passport
- Canadian Birth Certificate
NOTE: The Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) does not allow the Ontario Health Card to be accepted as ID.
When you become a member, you become an owner.
Rapport - A Division of WFCU Credit Union is owned by all WFCU members. Everyone who joins Rapport purchases a memebrship share in WFCU, at a price of $5.00, and then continues to hold that share for as long as they remain a member. Your $5.00 share account is kept separate from other money on deposit, and gets refunded when the account is closed.
At the Annual General Meeting or any Special Meeting, and subject to the Credit Union's by-laws, every member 18 years of age or older can vote on any decision or motion requiring a vote. This "one person - one vote" structure ensures that ownership is shared equally, with no one having more say or clout than anyone else.
What’s more, when Rapport - A Division of WFCU Credit Union and WFCU have a profitable year, we share those profits with our members and our communities through better rates, lower fees, dividends, and more commuinty investments.
Rapport - A Division of WFCU Credit Union is part of WFCU Credit Union and is authorized to operate in Ontario, we are not a Bank. Any Banking Account opened at Rapport - A Division of WFCU Credit Union is a credit union Account. At WFCU Credit Union, eligible deposits in registered accounts have unlimited coverage through the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA).
